Calendar Activities
Children
who attend Camp AIM experience the benefits of activities that promote
community awareness, self-esteem and the positive feeling of being
a part of a group.
Camp AIM's themed programming allows our kids to be a part of a vast array of events. These events are stuffed into a jam-packed six week program. Whether it's the rainbow palette of Color Week or the spirited success of Dress-Up -Your -Counselor Fashion Show...the feeling remains the same
acceptance, togetherness and belonging in a loving environment. Throughout the summer we successfully immerse our campers into their community. We go on field trips to the Pittsburgh Zoo, South Park and Crafton Park each year. Representatives of local educational institutions such as the Children's Museum, the Carnegie Museum of Natural History and Carnegie Science Center have come to share their knowledge with our campers. We have an ongoing partnership with the Center for Theater Arts and Kids on the Block, who give our campers even more reasons to sing, dance and smile. Corporate Mascots such as the Pirate Parrot, Wendy, Chuck E. Cheese, and Max and Erma have visited our campers.
Our program directors plan events such as the Arts Fest, the Talent Show, The Iron Chef Competition, The SwimFest and The Camp A.I.M. Olympics. Each of these events is designed to promote a sense of accomplishment in everyone who participates in them.
The last week of camp is packed with activities that develop memories and a sense of closure. The favorite of most campers is The Camp AIM Prom, complete with a limo ride. The camp experience ends with an emotional Graduation Ceremony where each camper is recognized for their unique strengths. Everyone leaves with fond memories and a yearbook filled with signatures and pictures.
Oh
and we love cookouts! Food and snacks are
regularly provided for all campers. Tacos, Hot Dogs, Veggies and Dip, Self-Decorated Cookies, popsicles, and Burgers are some items on the menu. Eating together brings a sense of togetherness, as well as gives opportunities to improve upon social skills.
The Camp A.I.M. activities enable our campers to Achieve Independence through Motivation. As a camper, your child will have the opportunity to participate in activities that they will treasure for a lifetime. |
