construction (and repair). Plan to arrive Friday night with a kit to assemble. ? If you have not flown model rockets before, pick up a starter kit at any hobby store, Wal-Mart, or Toys R Us. This will give you everything you need to get flying.
Local Hobby Store: Hobbytown USA - Robinson Town Center Toby Tyler Hobby - 103 Curry Hollow Road On-line Stores - PDF List er person is needed to cover most : Because of wreath sale proceeds, there were deep discounts for jackets, paintball, the Spring trip, etc. I know the 12 boys that produced those funds last year would feel grateful if the remaining members would share the load of fundraising. Please look for and read the wreath packet when it arrives in your in-box or mailbox.
Rifle Shoot Library Sportsman's Club - NYE* The Rifle Shoot arrangements have been finalized. I’m happy to say that Tad will lend their services this year. They will present the Orientation and Safety Training class, and will be the Range Masters for at least some of the shooting sessions. In addition to their dedication and expertise, I’m sure the Finks will again bring some of their more interesting guns and rifles to the orientation. The Orientation and Safety Training class will be held at the Y. There is no charge for this class, and it will help you and your son decide if the Rifle Shoot is for you this year. ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY for both fathers and sons who want to register for the shooting sessions, even if you have attended in past years. Any exceptions to this requirement must be cleared through Dan Ketelaar, the event coordinator. If you cannot attend the Orientation and Safety Training class on the TBA, make certain you contact him beforehand to explore other options. There will be five one-hour shooting sessions on the five Sundays from
November TBA through December TBA. The sessions will be held at the Library
Sportsmen’s Club, the same as last year. Both dads and sons will shoot Registrations (including payment) for the shooting sessions will be taken at
the Orientation and Safety Training class, not before. The charge to
participate in these five sessions is $30 per father-son pair, and $15 for up to The number of registrations will determine the number of “back-to-back” shooting sessions we schedule. Assuming two sessions, Session 1 will be 11 am until noon, and Session 2 will be 12:15 pm till 1:15 pm. If the number of registrants dictates that a third session is necessary, we will adjust these times somewhat. Participants should plan on supplying a shooting mat (shooting will be done from the prone position only). Blankets are fine, but many people like the foam sleeping bag pads available at sporting goods stores. The floor at the range is hard, dusty concrete. Register TBA. The cost per pair is $30, $15 for additional child, cash please, due on training night. This will cover range fees and all of your ammunition. If you have any questions about this event call David Knaus.
Winter Camp Out Camp Info
We need to decide when and where the winter campout will be this year. We will do it strictly by response. Where: Deer Valley or Kon-O-Kwee. When: The campout is currently scheduled for TBA, 2008. I need to find out if there is a need to move the date, and a consensus of what date that would be. Chule Races February TBA through TBA. Kits are currently on sale at the Y office for $5. After years of watching your son build his cars, you did just watch ...right?,now it’s your turn. In Trailblazers not only do the boys race, so do the dads! Dads may not get trophies, but we do get bragging rights! The tracks are available for practice on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. We will race last on Saturday the 23th. Anyone that is able to stay and help tear down and transport the tracks would be appreciated. Please note that the Chule Chief has instituted a new rule this year; “You can not cut or alter the wheels in any way.” Paint Ball Site and Time TBA (March or April) WHEN: TBA Pizza and drinks will be provided, courtesy of the Trailblazer Wreath Sale funds. If you have not played paint ball before, here are a couple of FAQ's:
Details/recommendations: 1) Trailblazers (TB) will buy paint in bulk from TRP and resell its members at cost, $4/100 rounds, $20/500. Therefore, do not buy extra paint yourself from TRP, as it will cost you more. TRP requires that we use their paint; we cannot bring outside paint in. 2) Most people should purchase either the number 2 ($35) or number 3 ($47) admission package. This includes semi-automatic paintgun, face shield, and 200 or 500 rounds of paint, respectively. If you're trigger happy, go for the $47 package for convenience. Otherwise, it doesn't matter since we'll have the additional paint at the same cost. 3) Last year, our group went through 10,000 rounds of bulk ammo, plus what people got (usually 500 rounds) with their admission packages. So you should probably plan on buying a few hundred rounds in additional paint per person. 4) For my convenience, instead of taking cash I will keep a running tab for everyone's additional paint purchases throughout the day. Be prepared to settle up with me either by check (best) or cash (not as good, since I won't be a bank of correct change) at the end of the day. 5) We will have pizza and soft drinks brought in around 1 pm. Cost will come out of our TB funds. 6) It takes a while to get everyone admitted and suited up, particularly since there will be other groups there. Please arrive by 11, or 10:30 if possible. 7) We will be playing amongst ourselves. We will not be combined with other groups. 8) EVERYONE will need to sign and turn in the TRP waiver. Save some time and fill out the attached form ahead of time. Remember to take it with you to TRP. 9) Strictly speaking, TRP requires participants be 10 years old or older. 10) This event is open to all Trailblazers, past and present. It is also open to Guides meeting the age "requirement" of 10 years old. Please spread the word to your Guide friends. 11) Have any Guides who are interested send me a brief email at mailto:dan@ketelaar.com and I will keep them up to date on any info. 12) Disposable camo coveralls may be available from TRP for $5. Not a bad investment, from my experience. 13) TRP accepts MC, Visa, and American Express credit cards. Spring Campout Camp Info The location of Trailblazer Spring Campout will be at Deer Valley TBA. Make sure to dust of you fishing poles for this weekend. Watch for sign up form in one of the spring issue of Smoke Signals.
